My Benjamin takes care of the Bristol gigs comprehensively here. And if you need persuading, there’s a nice preview of the Dumnall/Williams/Brice/Pursglove quartet booked for the Fringe here on LondonJazz.
If that’s not enough there are two t gigs worth noting out of Bristol but in easy reach. Empirical open a residency at the rather lovely Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford-on-Avon on Saturday with a gig where they welcome Pat Metheny’s pianist Gwilym Simcock as a guest – and intriguing prospect.
And the Royal Welsh College in Cardiff have nabbed the only UK gig outside London for the equally brilliant pianist Marc Copland in a trio with Drew Gress and one of the world’s very best drummers, Joey Baron, next Monday (Feb 10th). It’d be worth catching that for Baron alone, for my money. Again, there’s a good interview with Copland at LondonJazz by Mike Collins. Plenty of tickets for both of these at the time of writing…
