Bristol Jazz week, Nov 2

One I missed last week – Alex Monk Quartet at the Coronation Tap tonight (Sunday) looks good.

Two good ones on Thursday: John Pearce (violin) and Matt Hopkins (guitar) quartet at the Mall in Clifton Village for Fringe Jazz and the ever-popular Dave Newton trio at Future Inns. Tara Hugo singing Philip Glass at St George’s the same night is a serious competing attraction.

Friday sees Dakhla Brass, fresh from the recording studio, at the Be-Bop club, which should be a riot. I haven’t managed to hear them yet with their augmented line-up (now a trombone in the front line along with two saxes and trumpet). Looking forward to that one…

So a quiet-ish week, but good quality all round.
