Four nights of jazz in the Crypt at St George’s
St George’s excellent Autumn jazz season has already featured here. Also worth mentioning that it is enhanced, as last year, with after hours sessions (that’s starting at 10.30) down in the Crypt from some of the best local bands. This year these gigs remain free for concert-goers in the main hall, but you can come along just for the late session for a few quid if you want. They’ve also commissioned some new music to add to the fun. First one is next Thursday, Nov 7. Full details below.
As part of the After Hours programme at St Georges Crypt we have commissioned new pieces from three emerging composers; Veleka Algar, Jack Vaughan and Pete Rosser. A fantastic opportunity to hear world premieres of jazz crossover music from a new generation of composers.
They’re free entry with an 8pm gig ticket and £3 otherwise and are on the following dates –
7th November – Freight (8pm Gig is A Kind Of Brubeck)
14th November – Moonlight Saving Time (8pm Gig is Hugh Masekela & Larry Willis)
21st November – Dakhla (8pm Gig is Mike Janisch / Bunch of Fives)
