Coming up – Philip Clouts quartet

This one’s a bit out of town, but Bristol jazz week looks on the quiet side to me…

The Philip Clouts quartet are playing the Pound Arts Centre in deepest Wiltshire (Corsham) on Saturday. I’ve heard good reports and the tracks available on the web sound excellent. Have to be at a wedding on the other side of the country, so hearing them live will have to wait for another day, but it would be interesting to hear feedback if anyone reading this does get along.

Their blurb says:

An uplifting mix of jazz, funk and world music by Philip Clouts, pianist in Afrobeat band ZubopGambia, and his quartet featuring saxophonist Carlos Lopez-Real , whom Dave Liebman says ‘plays with a sound that comes from his soul’. Philip Clouts lives on the South West coast and his latest album Sennen Cove features pieces he has written inspired by the sights and sounds of the area while staying true to his own musical roots in African and Latin jazz.

Sample them here or here.
