Gig of the week – Brass Jaw, Colston Hall Friday 25th

Surfacing after an intense few days at the London Jazz Festival, there are a few things around which might tempt one out for yet more live music.

That man Sheppard’s Pushy Doctors are at it again on Saturday at the Greenbank, but you may not have noticed that the unadorned trumpet and saxes quartet Brass Jaw pop up in the Colston Hall foyer on Friday evening at 5.30.

They are invariably enormous fun, and as these sessions are free and they have come down on tour from Scotland it would be a shame to miss them.

(NB: Colston Hall’s foyer listings are not always reliable, but this one checks out with the band’s own website so should be OK. And for keen types there is still time to stroll down to Hotwells for Ben Clatworthy at the Be-Bop club afterwards.)
